Born in 1959 in Krakow. At the age of 25, he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the Medical College in Krakow, and started working at the Geriatrics Clinic of the Medical Academy managed by Professor Józef Kocemba. In the period 1990-91, he went on a scholarship at Hypertension Division in New Orleans, where he worked under supervision of Professor Franz Messerli and Professor Edward Frohlich. In the 1990’s, he was a visiting researcher in Leuven, at Professor Jan Staessen’s, and at the Geriatric Department of Hospital in London, at Professor C. Bulpitt’s.
Professor Grodzicki is a specialist in internal diseases, geriatrics, and hypertensiology, graduate of the European Academy for Medicine of Aging, and holds the title of European Specialist on Hypertension.
Since 2001, he has been the head of the Department of Internal Diseases and Gerontology of the Medical College, Jagiellonian University, and the head of the Internal Diseases Teaching Department of the University Hospital in Krakow.
Author of approximately 200 publications on hypertension, geriatrics, and cardiology, including several students’ textbooks.
Member of international scientific associations: American Society of Hypertension, European Society of Hypertension, European Academy for Medicine of Aging, European Union Geriatric Medicine Society.
Correspondent member of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences.
Doctor honoris causa of the Wroclaw Medical University.
Author of the VVIK III Method, owner of the protected word-and-figurative trademark for the method.
Attorney and sports fan who used to be a professional sportsman in his youth. Bringing his passions together, he also dealt with legal aspects of sports. For these reasons, on request from the Presidium of the Polish Parliament, he prepared draft “Trail Law” statute regarding the terms and procedures for private lands acquisition for sports and tourist purposes, as well as appropriate and safe use thereof. He also handled many cases related to sports-related accidents. Together with his collaborates from the legal office, he dealt with legal aspects of upgrading the historic Cable Car leading to the legendary Polish Kasprowy Wierch Mount, completed in December 2007.
As an elderly person, appreciating the importance of movement and proper nutrition to everybody’s health and psycho-physical fitness, the author has decided not only to describe the method, but also to implement it.
